Today Mates in Construction are coordinating the ‘Fly the Flag’ campaign with R U OK Day and this year INTREC, being strong believers in supporting and raising awareness for suicide prevention, have eagerly jumped on board.
Every year 190 construction workers across Australia take their own lives. That’s one individual every second day. With such devastating statistics, we, at INTREC, want all our employees to feel safe and comforted by their work mates and understand the positive impact open discussions about suicide prevention has on those involved.
Each INTREC office across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland have selected a site in which they will be flying the Mates In Construction flag, showing our support for the cause, the community and each individual involved in the construction industry.
INTREC’s Head Office in Sydney initiated a breakfast BBQ for all the office employee’s whilst our sites across each state gathered for theirs. The NSW host MIC/RUOK site was Kids Club in Rosebery, VIC’s host site was our RMIT project and QLD hosted their campaign at our Mt Kent site.
Each site saw everyone put down their tools to gather around the BBQ and ask their work mates RUOK? whilst the Mates In Construction Flag flew high above them all.
