INTREC: Powering the Future

INTREC takes pride in supporting our community, with a conscious effort made to contribute to environmental endeavours across the Interior and Construction industries.

In the final months of 2017, the INTREC NSW team moved into their freshly renovated Head Office. Solar panels were an integral component of the sustainable design philosophy, with the objective to be able to monitor our energy consumption constantly and also to demonstrate Best Practice. Driven by our Director Clint Bragg’s personal commitment to a sustainable and target-oriented approach, INTREC NSW committed to reducing their electricity costs by 65%, with 70% of energy consumed generated by Solar.

By mid-2018, INTREC had successfully secured Stage One of the University of Wollongong’s TLS (Thermal, LED & Solar) programme. The TLS project is a multi-phased project which focuses on sustainability whilst falling under the University’s overall Master Plan to move towards a sustainable and innovative campus by reducing energy consumption by 20% over the next 15 years.

The campus-wide Thermal, LED and Solar PV (TLS) Upgrade has totalled over 20 projects, making it one of the largest construction projects undertaken by the University of Wollongong in recent history. It consisted of 6 major mechanical upgrades, 8 LED lighting retrofit projects and Solar PV systems installed across 7 buildings. The project delivery phase commenced in early November 2018 and is in it’s final stages, with Stage 2 underway.

Prior to the delivery phase, INTREC were responsible for the concept and schematic design process for the above-mentioned Mechanical, LED and Solar PV projects. The delivery of this Sustainability programme within a live University campus is a testament to the collaborative and coordinated approach adopted by our long-standing UoW-based delivery team.

INTREC’s commitment to maintaining our standing as an Industry leader within the Sustainability sector remains firm; our Solar story is ongoing as INTREC continues to strengthen its unique Sustainability capabilities on projects such as the University of Wollongong TLS upgrade and alike.
